/whois larsiviI was born in 1978 and grew up in western Norway, where I got an affinity for rough weather and neo-norwegian (nynorsk), and my name, Lars Ivar Igesund. In addition I had a brother providing me with ample access to a PC, making way for my studies and my current job as an IT consultant. The studies at IDI/NTNU gave me a MSc degree (sivilingeniør in Norwegian) in computer science / software engineering, and the nickname larsivi (my assigned username, a simple concatenation of my real name). My thesis was some research into how well the then new vertex program specification of OpenGL could be implemented on a processor under development at the time. For a period of 19 months, I worked with support in a MS Windows environment and system administration tasks. These experiences gave me a feeling for how free software may be used to improve current setups, especially in organizations where the license costs for Windows, anti virus and more, actually make a difference. This spell ended when I got to sign a contract programming D, and I jumped at the opportunity and have created my own one-man company. While I was looking for some fan made missions for Thief and Thief 2, back in 2000, I stumbled upon the first open source project to interest me, and in 2002 I got to work a spell for a company making dual licensed software. I continued to expand my knowledge of open source projects, but didn't get really involved until D showed up in my view in early 2003. I didn't make the biggest of contributions early on, but I have followed it without stop since then, and have since 2006 been heavily involved in the Tango project. Other stuff that I'm interested in and that might get mentioned on this site, is litterature (especially the graphical sort ;), football (played the way it should be, with your feet) and, well, probably other things.
