Last week me and my son went back to Igesund again. My eldest brother came up from Valencia with all the kids, my second brother came up from Bergen with his kids and my third brother came up from Oslo, all of them with their respective spouses. My mother was already there, organizing the house, of course. It was a really great occasion, as it was the first time in almost 5 years that we were all together and it was also a first for all the cousins (especially since they keep getting added to :).
Since we're all fans of really good food, every night becomes a gourmet night, and we take turns on making the food. The best new experience for me was the Spanish apple and salmon salad, whereas I made made zrazy as close to the one I was served in Poland. And from all my family, thank you Tomasz and Agate! It was a huge success, and the cauldron was emptied with not even a hint of meat left.
The picture above shows one of the views from the balcony on my mother's house. The horizon in the back is one of two direct views to the Atlantic available from this balcony. The opening is the line between safe and harsh waters (even though several treacherous rocks are present to make holes in boats not being carefully steered), and you can see one of the ocean going fishing boats leaving for the fields. The picture is taken about 11.30 pm and shows how light it is at summertime, even quite a bit south of the polar circle (about 62 degrees latitude).
Even with active kids, being there is so peaceful and quiet, that you feel like sleeping all day or just sitting by the ocean, pulling in the salty air or staying up all night eating shrimps. I'm going back there in late July, and will stay for over a week, and even though I find it boring to live there, I can't wait going back for more vacationing :)
